1st Birthday Paw-ty: The Details

Hugh turned one on October 17th, and we had his party the following Saturday.  I had pretty much known since he was born that we would do a dog theme since we love our 2 fur babies so much.  Because you can almost always count on pretty weather in October, we chose to host the party in our backyard. All year I pinned ideas on Pinterest and searched for blogs with dog party themes.  I must say that I was really proud of how it all turned out!  I had a lot of help from my mom, and Jason's parents made the doghouse (see pics below).  We mainly invited family, which is a ton of people because I have a huge family and we are all super close, and a few friends.  The invitation stated to please bring donations for our local animal shelter in lieu of gifts because, seriously, what one year old needs to open a million gifts, let alone 2 months before Christmas?!!  Plus, it brought us such joy to take all of the food and materials to the shelter the next week.  I would highly recommend doing this, especially while your children are too young to know the difference anyway!

The Backyard.  Since we had so many older kids coming, we had a picnic table with pumpkins they could paint and take home, and my sister set up a face painting area.

The Adorable Dog House.  It turned out better than I imagined!!  My in-laws rock:)

The Birthday Chair.  Banner made by my mom.
The Food Table.  Burlap banners made by my mom with materials purchased at Hobby Lobby.  Framed photos on the left are newborn generation pictures and Hugh's footprints from the hospital.  To the right are collages I made at of his weekly photo sessions showcasing his first year.
Hot Dog Bar with mustard, ketchup, relish, chili, jalapenos, onions, and cheese, and  Pawtato Chips.  Pupcakes and smash cake made by Taylor Made Cakes.  So cute and yummy!!
My mom and I made the invitations.  They were all embellished a little differently with stickers from Hobby Lobby.  Dog centerpiece is a pinata purchased from our local Party Market.
Kibbles & Bits aka Cocoa Puffs & Pretzel Sticks.  Unused (I feel like people know this but I wanted to make sure!) dog bowls/toys purchased at Dollar Tree and Sunflower's Dollar Side in Columbus.

The Drink Station.  Sweet Tea (we are in Mississippi!!) and Toilet Water aka Sprite with blue food coloring.  We also had a bucket outside with mini bottles of water.

 Up next-party pics!
